Indestructible Dog Beds for Pitbulls

Not exactly sure why I need this post. Dogs are my mortal enemy!! Besides, I just lay on my human, so I don’t see why there is a need for a bed.

Mom, however, says the dog is much too big to lay on her like I do, so she deserves a great dog bed.

She needs one that will stand up to her occasional fits of chewing and destruction.

Since I have to write a post about her things too, let me tell you a little about “the dog.” Cita is my other species’ sister; she is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix.

We don’t believe all the bad news about pit bulls around here. They are amazing dogs! I mean, as amazing as a dog can be, of course.

Cita is the sweetest, most purrfect dog ever! Just ask Aunt Hollie. She enjoys playing with cats (not me, eww gross), caring for neonatal kittens and puppies, and taking walks to sniff out the news. She also loves to snuggle up with mom while she works.

With all her awesomeness and hard work, mom is right; she does deserve a good bed! Here are a few of our recommendations from our chewer to yours:

Orvis Toughchew Comfortfill-eco Platform Bed:

Orvis makes loads of things including great dog beds! They have one for small dogs up to X-large dogs. This one is beloved by Aunt Hollie’s dog Booker! He is the major chewer in the family, and she has only had success with this one in his kennel.

The bed uses a chew-resistant fabric that currently comes in a few different colors. It has a full ripstop nylon base and a bonded micro velvet top layer for both puncture and tear resistance while maintaining softness.

No chew targets like the cording around the edges some pet beds have.

The comfortfill-eco is plushy and springy, so it doesn’t flatten or clump. So your pup gets a good laying surface no matter how much they waller.

Some who have chewers may say the best thing about this bed is the guarantee! If your chewer destroys this bed, Orvis will refund your money with no questions asked!

Others might say the best thing is that it is washable! Either way, this is our number one choice for the comfort of your pup.

K9 Ballistics Chew Proof Elevated Dog Bed:

K9 Ballistics makes platform beds like the above. The bed used for this review has an elevated design that helps prevent destructive behavior like chewing, biting, and digging. It has a full aluminum frame.

The bed has covered edges, so there is no loose fabric to chew. It comes in a few different colors and sizes to fit your dog. K9 Ballistics uses ripstop ballistic fabric that is considered stronger than kevlar!

While the fabric is great for your chewer, the elevated bed may be beneficial to your older dogs who have joint issues and may need a little extra help getting up and down.

The durability of this bed also allows for it to go inside or outside for your dog to be comfortable where ever they lay! Oh, and since we know a chewer can’t be trusted in the house, this bed fits most standard-size crates! You might need to buy 2 or 3 just to make sure every location is covered.

Whether you use it outside or in the crate, the fabric does resist dirt, hair, and moisture. In case of an accident, it can be spot cleaned with just water when necessary. There is also a waterproof membrane that is included to prevent that same accident from seeping into the floor.

This bed does arrive preassembled, so you don’t have to worry about having the correct tools.

One major downfall maybe, especially if you have a super-destructo dog, is that it only has a 180-day Chew proof warranty. That is only for the fabric sling and for only one replacement.

Kuranda Dog Bed:

Similar to the K9 Ballistics bed, this one is also elevated. Made out of lightweight aircraft aluminum that can hold up to 250 pounds!!

That is about the size of an average human. Mom says she isn’t often considered average, but it could totally hold her!

Depending on the size of your power chewer, you can get a Mini Kuranda bed (hmmm.. cat size?) all the way up to an XXL, which is a 50×36.

The fabric is Cordura which Kuranda says is as durable as canvas. It comes in pretty colors like burgundy or forest green with a satin finish on the frame; it should look beautiful in your home. The Cordura is easy to clean and resists abrasions for indoor or outdoor use.

Similar to the other aluminum frame bed, this one hides the edges of the fabric inside the frame to prevent chewing. All the fasteners are stainless steel, so they don’t rust.

This bed is last on our list because of the length of warranty and because it does not come assembled. Kuranda does give a longer warranty than the K9 Ballistic with 1 year, but still way less than the Orvis guarantee.

Time to decide!

With exceptional comfort and indestructibility, I will give the Orvis my pawsitively meowvalous seal of approval. (Check out my cat tree post for more seals of approval)

Each of these dog beds has your chewer’s comfort in mind and will be a great choice. Is there one on your list that didn’t make our shortlist?
